We the Body: the Church

By: Sydney Morgan

Ephesians 4:10-16 - “He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens so that He might fill all things.

And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.

As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.”

Our Heavenly Father is in the business of changing hearts and transforming lives and He has equipped each of us for a special role, a unique part to play in His grand Kingdom-building story.

The big question in so many people’s minds is, “where do I fit in to that equation?”

Grace Community Church offers so many opportunities for believers to find a place, a ministry, and a community to plug in to and serve alongside others. The annual Ministry Fair is one of the highlights of the year where all of our ministries are represented in one room; where people who have yet to find a place to serve can begin to connect and invest. What a celebration it is to see so many people come together with their varied God-given gifts, abilities, and passions to support the goal and privilege of being used specially and specifically as conduits of God’s love, grace, and life to others, as His ambassadors to the world right here in our community and for some abroad.

This year we had 50 GCC ministries represented in the gymnasium and over 400 sign-ups! What an encouragement to see people eager to get involved and make a difference. Our prayer is that next year and in the years to come, we will see an increase in people willing to obey the call and allow the Lord to minister through them.
