Baptism

Why should I be baptized? Before He left the earth, Jesus commanded us to make disciples by calling for a public act of faith—an open identification with Jesus in his death, burial and resurrection. The book of Acts knows nothing of non-baptized Christians.  They understood that they were identifying with Christ and His church (I Cor 12:13), and they obeyed the Great Commission(Matt 28:19-20). In the New Testament, believing in Christ and being baptized are very closely related. This is the New Testament way to follow Christ: repent, believe and express that in baptism (Acts 2:38).

Baptism Form

"Jesus came and told his disciples, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit." Matthew 28:18-19 (To "baptize" someone is to immerse the person in water as a sign that he/she is now following Jesus.)
"People of Israel, listen!...With the help of lawless Gentiles, you nailed him (Jesus) to a cross and killed him. But God...raised him back to life.... So let everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah!" Acts 2:22-24, 36
God said that Jesus was both: ("Lord" means "Ruler" or "Master"; someone we obey.) ("Messiah means "Savior"; one who saves us from our sins.)
"Peter's words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, 'Brothers, what should we do?' Peter replied, 'Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'" Acts 2:37-38 ("Repent" means to have a change of heart and mind about wrongdoing, and want to do right.)
Do you believe Jesus died for your sins and rose from the dead?
"Those who believed what Peter said were baptized..." Acts 2:41
Have you repented of your sins?
Can you confess, "Jesus is Lord," and are you ready to follow and obey Him?
If the answer to these questions is, "Yes," are you ready to show it by being baptized?
