Why do we tithe?

God has instructed us to be generous in the same way that He has been generous to us to the point of giving His only Son's life for us (John 3:16). He has given us all different resources (time, money, talents) and we are simply the managers He has appointed to steward His resources on His behalf (Ps 24:1).

God has specifically asked His people to give financially because He wants us to demonstrate to Him that we love Him not only with our words but also with our actions (Matt 19:21-24). We are to give cheerfully and without compulsion (2 Cor 9:7), and the model that we have from the Old Testament is the tithe which means the tenth or 10%. Some in our church give more than this amount because the New Testament church practiced sacrificial giving (Acts 2:44-46). If you are still in doubt about the blessings of giving to the local church, ask any pastor or elder about their personal stories of how God provided for them in abundance (Luke 6:38) when they were practicing the discipline of the tithe. It is just not possible to out give our generous God.

You may give online using the following methods:

  • Credit/Debit Card – We do not encourage you to use a credit card unless you have the means to pay off the balance at the end of the month.

  • Electronic Check (EFT)

Please note there are fees associated with online giving.  These fees reduce the actual amount of the gift the church receives.  The church pays approximately 3% for credit/debit card use, but only a small transaction fee of $0.25 for an electronic check.  We encourage the use of electronic check over credit/debit cards in order to minimize the online giving fees and thus, allow the church to receive a larger amount from your gift. When giving online, you will also have the option to cover the processing fees.

You may also give by bringing paper checks or cash by the church office and putting them in the grey, secure, mailbox outside our Life Center building.

Text Giving

Follow these steps to give through text on your mobile device.

  1. Text GraceArlington and the amount to 73256. As an example it would look like this: “GraceArlington $50”.

  2. You will receive a text with a link to setup your account and confirm.

  3. When you click on the link you will be asked to supply your debit, credit, or banking information.

  4. After you press the give button you will receive an email confirmation of your gift.
