Greater Arlington Prayer Breakfast

On April 5, 2023, city leaders and pastors across the greater Arlington area gathered to pray. This event was sponsored by Unite Arlington (unitearlingtontx.org) and had great participation from the top civic leaders of Arlington as well as the churches in the area. Our pastoral team participated by praying at a table with a member of the city council and Pastor Gary shared what to expect when we pray. The Acts model states that when we pray in unity, we should expect power to do ministry in our city. However, as we step out and do more ministry we should expect opposition, and our response should be to turn back to prayer.

I have been more active in my hometown of Kennedale as a volunteer and now serve on the advisory board for the library of my city. Through my other role as president of my neighborhood HOA, I have become acquainted with the Kennedale city council members and mayor. I invited Kennedale’s Mayor Joplin to attend the prayer breakfast, and as a result, she joined in prayer with the mayors of Arlington, Pantego, and Dalworthington Gardens. After the event, Mayor Joplin texted me, saying, “Oh my goodness, I am soaring from all the goodness of God! Thank you again for telling me about this awesome event! I am humbled, honored and blessed beyond description.”

God has given the church an open door to do ministry here in our city, and we are expectantly waiting for Him to bring in the harvest as we are faithful with the opportunities He gives us.
