BetterMan at Grace

GOAL: Help men engage the Word, Work, Women, and the World in a Biblical way!

WHAT: An 11-week series that combines video teaching and small group discussion to explore the Bible’s teaching on being a man. Groups may have up to 7 men.

WHO: All men 18+ are welcome to participate!

• Group Leaders - Two per group: ideally one who is under 40 and another who is 20+ years older than him

COST: Zero — get your workbook from your leader at no cost to you!

SCHEDULE:

April 7 (Sun 6pm): City-wide Kick-off Gathering

Session 1 - Levitt Pavilion in Arlington - eighteen churches!

Location: Founder's Plaza / Levitt Pavilion, 100 W Abram St, Arlington, TX 76010

• Public parking or the lot of First Baptist Church office at 301 S Center St, Arlington, TX 76010

• Carpool with your discussion group if possible

• We are joining 12 other churches to kick-off the BetterMan 11-week series

  • Worship with brothers from our area

  • Discussion with your own group of guys from Grace

• Cost: The event is free

  Note on Food: Contrary to earlier announcements, this event does NOT include a barbeque dinner. I'm sorry for the disappointment -- I'm sad too! The "dinner" part has been postponed until the next big gathering on June 9th -- the Session 10 event to be held in Veterans Park. Mark your calendar for that!

  Your Group: Many guys do not know yet which group they are in, but some already do. If you don't know which group you are in, you should hear from Carey Morgan or your group leader between now and Sunday mid-day.

  Weekly Sessions 2 - 9 Options:

  • Sunday Nights: 7:00 pm in Life Center Loft - Video Teaching followed by Small Groups - starting April 14

  • Tuesday Afternoon: 2:30pm in Cornerstone - for College-age guys - starting April 9

  • Tuesday Nights: 7:00pm in Life Center - Teaching and Discussion Group - starting April 16

  • Wednesday Mornings: 7:00 am in Life Center Gym - Discussion Groups only (must pre-watch video) - starting April 17

  • Wednesday Night: 7pm in homes - Teaching and Discussion Group - starting April 17

  • Any Day / Time / Location - each group may choose their own meeting arrangement and either

    • Watch the video teaching together and discuss (90+ minutes total) OR

    • Pre-watch the video individually and meet only for discussion (60+ minutes total)

  June 9 (Sunday 6pm): City-wide Celebration Cookout & Session 10 - Veterans Park in Arlington

  • Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, etc provided

  • Session 10 teaching

  • Celebrate progress, hear testimonies

  June 16-22 Week: Session 11

  • Meet in regular discussion group days/times

QUESTIONS / ANSWERS:

• I’m older than 40ish - can I participate?
  Yes, any man is welcome! BetterMan says the content is designed for men 18 to 40, but it is valuable for all ages.

• What if I can’t be there for every meeting?
  If you can be there for most of them, sign-up and come to all you can. All teaching is available via online video so you can catch up on any content you might have missed.

• Is this only for Christians or only for men of Grace Church?
  BetterMan is intended for any man who wants to know what the Bible says about manhood. Anyone is welcome whether they currently are part of Grace Community Church or not, and whether they follow Jesus or not. Please invite anyone to be in your group!

• How long are the teaching videos?
  Videos are generally 35 to 40 minutes long, but one or two are around 50 minutes long.

• Which languages are supported?
  Video content and workbooks are available in English and Spanish.
