When a person or church loses their spiritual spark, they trade vital relationship for mechanical routine. The external actions remain, but the internal "why" has died:
Faith becomes mere work.
Love becomes mere labor.
Hope becomes mere endurance.
This results in a state of spiritual numbness—a "holy burnout" where you serve God and others without feeling anything at all, becoming ambivalent even toward the return of Christ.
Jesus’ diagnosis is simple: You have lost your first love. You’ve disconnected from the intimate relationship that is supposed to fuel your actions.
If you feel like you are just going through the motions, don't lose heart. The same Jesus who identified the drift also provides the way to rediscover that original fire.
