Wayne Kenyon
Pastor of Pastoral Care and Counselin

Wayne is Pastor of Pastoral Care and Counseling, helping people to connect with the Lord in a way that their lives are changed and they are able to walk in victory.  He does so through marriage and family counseling and leading the Freedom Team, which provides training for people to help others through prayer and personal ministry to be freed from bondages holding them back from being all God wants them to be.

Wayne’s passion is to see people be able to respond to God’s Spirit and be energized to fulfill their destiny in Christ to its fullest extent.  “My joy comes from seeing lives changed by the power of God.”

Wayne was born in Bogue, Kansas, (population 200) and grew up there at his family’s farm.  He and Shirley met while in college and soon began serving the Lord together.  Wayne attended Friends University in Wichita, Kansas, graduating with a B.A. in Bible and Speech.  He then graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky, with a Masters of Divinity.

After graduating from seminary, Wayne entered the pastorate for 14 years in churches in Kansas and Kentucky before his family answered the call to mission work in Ecuador, where they served for nine years with OMS International.  After completing their term in Ecuador, Wayne and Shirley returned to Indiana to pastor a church for two years, and then came to Texas in 1981, leading churches here, most recently at Victory Fellowship in Arlington where he and our pastor, Gary Hutchison, become friends through Arlington Christian Ministries.  Wayne and Shirley began attending Grace Community Church in 2002 and Wayne joined the staff 2003.  As the pastor of Victory Fellowship, Wayne helped to found Grace Preparatory Academy in 1993.  Wayne and Shirley have also led spiritual retreats for missionaries in Colombia, Ecuador, and Spain, through OMS International.
Wayne enjoys carpentry, building furniture, basketball, time with family and grandkids, and travel. He and Shirley were married in 1956 and live in Arlington.  They have six children, fourteen grandchildren, and ten great grand children in Texas, Indiana, Maryland, Ohio, and Kansas.
