Testimony by Jonathan

Today, one of my friends in our small group is coming home after spending more than nine weeks in the hospital awaiting the arrival of their new baby boy. In 2014 this family was hit with a tragedy that few of us will ever experience and soon afterwards they joined our group. We spent many evenings praying for God to comfort them, heal them and for future blessings to fall on their family. When we found out they were expecting a new baby, we celebrated the news and persistently prayed for God to show Himself faithful to them. He answered specific prayers that we prayed, and we are looking forward to our first Better Together meeting to celebrate God’s goodness together.

Yesterday, I got to spend time with another small group at Grace with a different kind of celebration. At our Palm Sunday service this year one of their home group members gave his life to Jesus for the first time at age 72. This past Sunday I had the privilege of going up to the hospital where the family and home group had gathered, and we baptized him and celebrated communion together. As many experienced tears of joy, I was encouraged that after years and years of prayer God showed His kindness by allowing the good news of the gospel to pierce through to His heart before it was too late.

Gary shared with us yesterday that our love for one another will prove to the world that we are really followers of Jesus. As we gather in small groups and encourage one another (Heb 10:24-25), carry one another’s burdens (Gal 6:2), pray for one another (James 5:16), and live life together over the next six weeks, I am confident that God will work mightily through each of us (Phil 2:13).

If you have not signed up yet to be a part of Better Together, please do so today and be a part of the story of the next six weeks together. You can view all the available groups by day of the week, by geographical zone, by which ones offer childcare, or by special interest. You can also sign up and Jonathan will match you to a group. This Sunday we will have a special kickoff to Better Togetherfeaturing a free lunch after each service in the Life Center where everyone can meet the rest of their Better Together group and begin to get to know each other. Everyone is invited even if you have not signed up yet for a group as we can help you find one then. See you there!
