GYM Costa Rica Trip 2015

The Grace Youth Ministry had a terrific mission trip to San Jose, Costa Rica this year. Since 2011 we have been taking trips to Guatemala, so taking a team to Costa Rica was new this year! Our team was made up of thirteen high school students and five leaders, and we had the chance to partner with YWAM Costa Rica.

We had some wonderful opportunities to serve while we were there. Our first project was to build a swing set for an elementary school down the street from the YWAM base. This was a new experience for some members of the team, but we were able to complete it successfully in only a few days. We initiated an impromptu dedication ceremony with the children and teachers at the school, where we had the opportunity to share that we built the swing set for them because of how much Jesus loves them. This was a very cool time, and it was a blessing to us to see how much the children loved playing on the swing set!

We also had the opportunity to go out to the San Jose community and go door-to-door passing out Bibles and sharing the gospel with people in their homes. This was a stretching experience for many of the students, as this was the first time many had done any ministry of this kind before. We prayed for the Lord to show up in powerful ways, and He did! Our teams were able to pray with people for healing, speak blessing over families, and pray with one woman to receive salvation. Several of the houses we visited were built by previous YWAM teams, so it was also neat to hear their testimonies and how much the Lord had changed their lives.

We were able to see the Lord work in some very obvious ways throughout the entire trip. Many of the members of our team were not feeling well and were extra tired going into the trip, but as a whole we felt strengthened and revitalized whenever we were out doing ministry. The team experienced unity and favor every day while we were there. We definitely felt the prayers coming from back home, so thank you all for praying! We look forward to seeing what the Lord continues to do in Costa Rica!
