Ron Blair
Elder of Safety and Security

Ron was born in Fort Worth and grew up right here in Arlington.  He and his five siblings (including a twin brother) were raised in a Christian home.  In 1963 Ron accepted Christ as his personal Savior.  That same year his dad, a local Baptist pastor, moved the family to Tallahassee, Florida, and started Temple Baptist Church.  Later, North Florida Christian School was added to the ministry.  In those ministries Ron learned the importance of “helping hands” in ministry.

In 1969 Ron met his wife Cindy, a Longview, Texas, native, at a Christian summer camp just north of Pensacola, Florida.  Later that year Ron joined the US Air Force and spent five years in the United States Marine Corp Reserve.  While in the Air Force, he and Cindy courted via mail and married shortly after his tour was over in October 1973.  From 1975 to 1982 he managed the Temple Baptist Church (and associated school) Print Shop.

In 1982 the Lord opened some amazing doors and Ron was hired by the FAA where he spent 30 years as an air traffic controller, supervisor and support specialist.

He and Cindy have three wonderful daughters, Julie, Betsy and Rosalyn; three outstanding sons-in-law, Erik, Trent and David; and 15 perfect grandchildren.  They say, “Although we have experienced personal tragedy, including the loss of our 1st grandchild, we know who holds tomorrow and we know who holds our hand.  Praise God!”

Over the years Ron has worked in numerous lay-ministry opportunities in several churches, and he has a heart for serving. Since joining Grace in 2007, they have served the ESL ministry, Practical Helps Team, Hospitality Team, Grace Cares, and a small group.
