1. How much does Multiply cost?
Multiply is free! But it will cost you time, energy and comfort to make reproducing disciples.
2. How much time will this take?
The class time is three hours once a week. During the week, you’ll be spending time in prayer, and interacting with other people. That may get up to two hours in a week. However, some of your interaction with people may not be in addition to what you do, but may already be a part of your normal routine. You’ll simply learn how to better use that time for God’s purposes.
3. Do you offer childcare?
Unfortunately, at this time we do not. But we can recommend church-approved childcare workers with whom you can make your own arrangements.
4. Is there a book to buy?
We only use the Bible. From time to time other books may be mentioned, but these are not necessary to have.
5. What if I don’t feel called to or comfortable with talking to strangers about Jesus?
Every follower of Jesus is called to make disciples. Most often in the Bible, the good news was shared through relational networks. You’ll learn how to reach friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, classmates, teammates—and even new acquaintances—for Christ.
6. Isn’t this just for people who preach or have the gift of evangelism?
Only one person in the Bible was identified as being an “evangelist” (Acts 21:8). Although evangelists have an important role, the good news of Jesus was mostly shared by ordinary followers of Jesus who were His witnesses.
7. I think my role is just to disciple other Christians. How will this training apply to me?
First, Jesus said that part of making disciples is “teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:20). Multiply will show the whys and hows of teaching people to obey Jesus. If you lead or want to lead a small group, or want to disciple one or two people at a time, this training will help you be a better disciple, as well as help you disciple others.
Second, we’re all supposed to be prepared to answer people who ask us why we have hope in our lives, and to share our faith (1 Peter 3:15; Philemon 6). Multiply will help prepare you to do that.
8. I want to share Jesus with people in other parts of the world. Will Multiply help?
Yes! You’ll acquire general disciple making skills that will help you whether you end up in the U.S. or overseas. Also, we will touch on some aspects of cross-cultural disciple making. Multiply is a good place to start to get a foundation.
9. OK, I just have fears about this! What do I do?
Join the club! Even the apostle Paul felt weak and fearful (1 Corinthians 2:3). He asked all the believers in the city of Ephesus to pray that he would speak fearlessly (Ephesians 6:19-20). We can follow his example, and pray for one another in the same way.
10. When does the next session of Multiply start?
11. Can I ask other questions or talk more in-depth about all this?
Sure! Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to get the conversation started.
