Ed Gish
Elder of Discipleship

Ed grew up in Memphis Tennessee.  His father was a surgeon, and he wanted Ed to have as many positive experiences as his parents could provide. They brought Ed to church consistently, and he became an Eagle Scout, all-state trumpet player, and had success on the track as well.  In 1971 he came to know Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Immediately he began the process of being discipled by several men, and this experience has had a profound influence on the rest of his life. He later attended Ole Miss and also graduated from the University of Memphis and received a ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary.

Ed and Diane married in 1980 and first came to Grace Community Church in 1995. During Ed's time here he taught at Grace University, led a weekly men's group, and led a home group. He developed his vision for how to best influence others and began his business with pastor Tim Wright.  They created many memories and became close friends.  Ed continues that business today as a certified financial planner. Diane is a high risk obstetrics nurse with Harris THR.  Ed's passion is to help men walk with Jesus and become spiritual multipliers just like the men who invested in his life in the mid-1970s.

Ed recently rediscovered track. He is a member of USA Track and Field and is an All-American in the indoor 60m dash for his age group. Once again, as in being mentored in his walk with Jesus, he has had world-class masters sprinters coach him in the 60m, 100m, and 200m dashes.  Like Eric Liddell, when Ed runs he feels God's pleasure. He has had many opportunities to talk about Jesus with his fellow sprinters and enjoys that even more than running.
