Youth Ministry (GYM)
The Grace Youth Ministry (GYM) is a great place to journey through life with other teens. We understand that students are not only the church of the future, they are the church of now. And with that in mind, we look for fun, creative, life-giving ways to speak God's truth into their lives so that they in turn can go and change their world through obedience to Jesus Christ.
Our Community is made up of teenagers in the public, private and home school students grades 7th – 12th. It is our desire that each student involved in the GYM would make the decision to follow Jesus with their whole lives, understanding that the Christian faith isn’t just about Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, but encompasses the whole of who we are.
Purpose
The GYM exists to connect with other disciples, worship God, grow in faith and obedience, serve the world, and reach the lost with the good news of Jesus. We accomplish our purposes and values through a variety of meetings and events.
Special Meetings
FOCUS – In this weekend event, students spend the night together in host homes scattered throughout the city. Focus is usually a watermark in the lives of our students as they spend time away from their daily routine to have concentrated Bible study and small group time. Focus is routinely held during the first part of October.
ADVANCE – In the GYM, we look at retreats not as a time to play and rest, but rather to advance the Kingdom of God! Our annual weekend event is packed full of intense teaching, worship, and small groups. It is always memorable and life-changing for our students. The Advance is routinely held during the first part of April.
TRIPS – With our purpose statement in mind, the GYM is always looking for opportunities to Serve and Reach here in Arlington and across cultures. In the past, the GYM has traveled to Mexico, Guatemala, and Turkey. In addition to these trips, the GYM has also been involved with an exchange program for Japanese students who traveled stayed here in Arlington. Last summer, the GYM partnered with Mission Arlington, ministering locally in our first annual “Serve Week”.
Leadership
Our leadership team is made up of qualified adult and student leaders who take the challenge of making disciples seriously.
