Brad Marvine
Pastor of College and Young Adults
Brad’s heart is to lead students into getting a glimpse of the glory of their Creator. His passion is stirred by what the cross means to him and his personal life, to see beyond the familiarity of religious words, titles, and lifestyles and pursue and find the reality of a relationship with Jesus. This is the power he desires for his personal life and the lives of the students and leaders around him. A verse that is important to him is Ephesians 2: 8-9: “For by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast”.
Brad was born in Overland Park, KS and spent most of his childhood there. It was when he was serving in a prison ministry at age nineteen in Palestine TX that Brad’s need for Jesus became real to him. “While working with those guys in prison, I came to the overall realization that they understood their sin and need for a savior better than I did. Because I had grown up in a Christian home, it was harder for me to see that need. I began to see that my sin was just as offensive to God as theirs was.” A mentor turned Brad toward the Bible. This was when Brad truly began to follow Jesus. Brad worked as a counselor at “The Sky’s the Limit” inner-city, kids’ camp for three years in high school in down-town Kansas City. He was also a Junior High and High School Youth Leader at a church in Lenexa, Kansas for three years while in college. Brad graduated from Mid-America Nazarene University with a bachelor’s degree in Management and is currently pursuing his Masters in Religion at Redeemer Seminary in Dallas. Brad met his favorite person in the world, Charise, while in college, whom he married in 2004. They have two young boys, Silas and Noah, and a little girl on the way!
Prior to coming to Grace Community Church, Brad was in sales and worked in the fitness industry as a manager and a personal trainer. Through a series of circumstances and God’s leading, Brad both felt the call to work at a church as a pastor and found the opportunity to follow it at Grace Community Church in January of 2008.
Brad enjoys wrestling and getting beat up by his two sons, going on dates with his wife, basketball, long-boarding, reading, hanging out with friends, and witnessing lives transform through the cross of Jesus.
